Muswell

About

A control plane for AI agents, built by people who used to write the controls.

Muswell builds the runtime controls and evidence layer that financial services firms need to adopt agentic AI without losing their second-line oversight.

What we believe

The thesis behind the product.

Risk has shifted from bad text to bad actions.

Most of the AI safety conversation a year ago was about what models say. The conversation that matters now is what models do, through the tools they have been handed.

Model-layer alignment is necessary but not sufficient.

Indirect prompt injection is, per the NCSC, not a problem you fix at the model. The execution boundary is where the firm gets to draw the line.

Firm size does not lower the regulatory bar.

Regulators do not grade firms on a curve based on headcount. Wealth managers and brokers should not have to choose between adopting AI and meeting their obligations.

Audit is not a dirty word.

It is the discipline that lets a firm demonstrate good outcomes after the fact. The product is built around it because regulators, boards and clients reasonably ask for it.

Founders

The people you'll be talking to.

RB

Rittick Barua

Co-founder

Background in technology consulting and internal audit / data analytics. Muswell exists because the controls language he spent his career inside — segregation of duties, evidence, exception MI, four-eyes — is the language that should be governing AI agents.

MW

Mike Williams

Co-founder

Background in data analytics and financial modelling, built across KPMG and Grant Thornton, and now Head of Analytics at Nest Pensions, the UK's largest pension provider. He has co-founded a company before — the edtech firm Vizi Education — and is CIMA qualified. Mike brings the financial services and pensions domain knowledge that keeps Muswell grounded in the sector it serves.

Where we are

A small, senior team — close to the firms we work with.

Muswell is a small team, which means the people you talk to are the people building the product and deciding what it does next. You work directly with senior, experienced operators, not an account layer.

We are growing, and we stay deliberately close to the firms we work with — quick to respond, and quick to shape the product around what a real compliance team actually needs. If that is the kind of partner your firm wants, we should talk.
